To draw a plan, or "sketch", one must be logged into SeaSketch. This is because sketches are saved into ones personal account and are private unless shared with other users in a forum. If you don't have a user account, simply create one by clicking on the Sign In button in the top right corner of a project and follow the instructions for creating an account. 

Once you have signed in, click on the "My Plans" tab and click the "Create New" drop down menu. Each project is used for planning different kinds of things - marine protected areas, shipping lanes, aquaculture sites, etc. - and therefore the project administrator will have configured your project for drawing one or more plans. In the following video, we demonstrate how SeaSketch is used to draw plans for a new shipping lane through the Santa Barbara Channel to avoid blue whales.
