Using Dropbox files in your SeaSketch Project

SeaSketch supports administrators adding files to a project by utilizing Dropbox. For example, an admnistrator can specify the project logo or customize printouts by using Dropbox hosted images. SeaSketch will prompt you to login or create a Dropbox account, and then identify or upload files to that account. There are a couple important things to keep in mind when configuring a project this way.
  1. Files from Dropbox are hosted by that Dropbox account. If the file is deleted in Dropbox it will no longer be available in SeaSketch.
  2. If using a personal Dropbox account, that person will need to be responsible for keeping that file available in that account for the lifetime of the SeaSketch project. It may be more appropriate to setup an organization account specifically for your SeaSketch project (it's free with a unique email address).
  3. It's possible to share an entire folder of images and other files within Dropbox. This is a good way to enable your entire organization to collaborate on a SeaSketch project.
